Wellesley College Swimming and Diving will be hosting the competitive swimming clinic Competitive Hydrodynamics: An Engineer's Approach to Fast Efficient Swimming on Saturday, October 24th, 2009. The clinic will be directed by Coach Gary Sturdy and will focus heavily on managing body position in order to slice through the water more quickly while using less energy.
Swimmers who attend the clinic can expect to learn: proper body alignment, the difference between aerodynamic and hydrodynamic streamlining, the proper techniques needed to float on the surface with ease and confidence, techniques to reduce unneeded movements in swimming, how to transfer floating into fast swimming, and a variety of techniques to use throughout the day to improve swimming.
This clinic is open to age group, high school, masters swimmers, and coaches of all abilities and levels. Registration will be limited to ensure that camp participants get the highest quality instruction possible, and will be handled on a first come/first sever basis. INFORMATION FOR SWIMMERS:
Swimmers are asked to arrive at 9:30am EST on Saturday, October 24th for Camp Sign In.
Swimmers are being asked to arrive and stay in their suits in order to minimize changing time and should bring warm deck clothes to wear while not in the water.
INFORMATION FOR COACHES:
Coaches are asked to arrive at 9:30am EST for Saturday, October 24th for Clinic Sign In.
During training sessions coaches are invited on deck to observe Gary Sturdy coach camp participants in stroke drills and mechanics.
CLINIC FEES:
The Clinic Fee for Competitive Hydrodynamics is $50.00 for all participants.
Clinic Fees are due at the time of registration. Because space is limited, registration packets submitted with out the clinic fee will be placed on the waiting list until payment is received.
